Literature and history can never be separated from each other since ancient times. However, the history teaching & learning is separated from the Chinese language artificially. For a long time the test-oriented education seeking instant success made the resourceful and systematic knowledge in literature and history dull, fragmented and disorganized, which lead to the imbalance of basic human qualities. The visual field of the teaching content is narrow, and the teaching content is arranged so densely as to have too many things to attend to. And it is so pedantic, academic and professional that only the adult can unmolested it. And quite often it can't break away from the framework of the political mainstream so that it strays away from the real life. In addition, students' study is so confined in the teachers' lectures in class that their hungering curiosity and thirst for knowledge can never be satisfied.However, the current reform in education is required to gain access to prospect concrete analysis of concrete conditions creativity, substantial results and the wing-to-wing double flies of both science and arts; and it is required to try to gain the latest education reform achievement from the macrocosm point of view; and it is required to develop the students' potential and personalities; and it is required to carry the spirit of trying to be down-to-earth, perfect, creative and flexible to induce the forward students to master the knowledge from the macrocosm and establish scientific structure of both knowledge and ability as well as the solid foundation; and it is required toinsure the choice of the teaching & learning content scientific, modern, comprehensive, coherent and sustainable. In fact these two courses have a lot in common such as contents, teaching and pedagogy. The following essay will illustrate my enlightenment of both history teaching and Chinese teaching in terms of their changes & development, the present situation of teaching & learning, the present situation of the college entrance examination, teaching experience, the internal relationship between the two, the syllabus requirements and The Common Senior High School History Course Standard (on trial). The original intent is to appeal educational circles together with middle school students to catch up with the times rather than ignoring history and diverting attention only on their own field. It aims at appealing teachers & students to integrate the knowledge of literature & history; and it aims at the catering to the need of the times, the society and the synthesized pillar in accordance with the promotion of teaching & pedagogy.
