The Research On The Problems And The Solutions With Arts Education In High Schools.

Since China's reform and opening up, with the rapid development of education, more and more attention has been paid to arts education and a remarkable achievement has been made.However, there are still some problems which need to be resolved. In this thesis, by surveying the teaching theory on arts education, management solutions and corresponding policies in many high schools in Shanghai, some existing problems in high schools' arts education are revealed, such as the government policy and investment on arts education; the exam-oriented education system is preventing the arts practice from being carried out; not enough attention has been paid to arts education; arts education management in schools need to be improved and arts education is always confused with moral education; there are insufficient teaching materials and the assessment system is not developed; and the arts education in schools, families and society is disjointed etc.. Furthermore, after analyzing the reasons causing those problems above deeply, this thesis gives out the corresponding solutions and suggestions aiming to promote the sustaining development of arts education in Shanghai and in China.In Chapter 1, the background and the purpose of the research is presented, current literature is reviewed, both domestic and abroad, and the research objectives and methods are explained. Chapter 2, 3 and 4 are the core parts of this thesis. Although arts education is significant for both students' and schools' development and some schools surveyed have made some achievements, it's not enough and there are still some problems. By using many research methods like questionnaires, interviews and case studies etc., those existing problems in arts education in schools are summarized in chapter 2.Chapter 3 explores the reasons which result in those problems. And in chapter 4, some solutions and suggestions are given.
