The Research On The Changes About Textbooks Of Modern World History In Senior High School In China Since 1980s

The continuous renewing of people' s opinions and ideas to education and its curriculum brings about constant reforms on them. The reform will be surely embodies in the compilation of textbooks. Doing the research on the development of the textbook and analyzing the reasons will help us control its developing trend and it is also valuable to the compilation of the new textbook.As far as the subject of history is concerned, the textbook is in a centre place of history education. And an important part of its curriculum system. The reform of history textbook represents the aim and developing trend of the history education and the reformation of history curriculum. In this article, I divide into three periods the development of the textbook about modern world history used in our senior high schools since 1980s: rectifying and recovering of the textbook at the early eighties of 20th century; the initial stage of development between the mid-eighties and mid-nineties of 20th century and further development since the late 1990s up to now. The analysis and research focus on the principles that guide the compilation, the choice of the content and the form of expressing the materials.As for the principles guiding the compilation, I, according to the syllables issued by the Education Ministry, discuss it from three different points of view, these are the imparting of knowledge, the developing of abilities, cultivating of feelings and values. I realize that the compiling principles have been gradually switched from merely stressing teaching knowledge about the history to attaching great importance to development of students' cultural accomplishment.The structure of the textbook determines separately what the teachers should do.
