The Research On The Deprivation Of Peasant Migrants

With the transformation of the society, a large number of peasant migrants have flowed to the urban areas, thus there emerges a very special social group named as peasant migrant group. Peasant migrant refers to the laborer who identifies of peasant status, but devotes oneself to the non-agricultural activities in urban society and lives on employment or self-employment.Peasant migrants have made tremendous contributions to the prosperity of the urban society, but they are marginal people and in the bottom of the urban society. For this phenomenon, this thesis uses the conception of deprivation, which refers to the injustice treatment which individuals and groups suffer from in economic, political and social fields.The current domestic researches are largely theoretical or descriptive studies, used mostly quantitative research methods. The qualitative researches for the deprivation of the peasant migrants are few.Based on the predecessors'researches, this thesis will combine sociological deprivation-conflict theory with Chinese unique historical culture and the transition background. Selected Guilin City as a research point, it explains what, why and how the deprivation is. The presentation of the issue will do great good to the harmonious society and social justice. Through qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews, observation and literature, the thesis finds that peasant migrants suffer from injustice in urban society is objective facts, which is the violation of the rights of labor employment, education of children and social security in economic field; the violation of the rights of free migrant in political field and the dignity discrimination in social field.The consequences of the problem are psychological conflict, quarrelling, fighting, group incidents and criminals.The causes of the peasant migrants'deprivation lay in three aspects.
