The new chemistry curriculum of senior high school embodies the concepts of "people's orientation", "respect for students' individual experiences" and "recognition of the students' choices of learning interest". It advocates providing the students with a scaffold on which to construct knowledge. This paper starts with a humanistic perspective to explore fresh chemistry teaching modes in the context of the New Curriculum Reform of Senior High School. Based on the ideas of situational cognition, creative activities, cooperative interaction, successful experiences, self-education and character-training and ranging from situated teaching to inquiring and cooperative learning and self-development learning, etc. the teaching modes can optimize the implementation of the new chemistry curriculum reform. To explore the new teaching modes is not to oppose the traditional modes, but to develop and improve them. The new teaching modes are aimed at bringing the students' independence, initiative and creativity to a full play, making them eager and able to learn and providing some effective references in carrying out the new chemistry curriculum for senior high school in Fujian province.
