Since last period of the 20th Century, ICT began to be broadly used into basic education in China. After the "National Congress on ICT in Education" by Ministry of Education in October, 2000, especially, education and trainings for ICT use had been widely promoted in almost all of k-12 schools, which symbolized a new phase had began in this field.The Achievement about ICT use in k-12 schools was obvious to all in recent years (i.e. information infrastructure, construction and exploitation of information resources, training for teachers, establishment of rules and regulation, etc.). Meantime, some problems became apparent. Have the prearranged aims been achieved? With respect to k-12 schools, how to appraise of outcomes of huge investment? How to evaluate the present level of educational informatization? How to give suggestions for a sustainable development?There are no certain norms for these problems. Apparently, different situation leads to different solution from school to school. A systematic framework will play a vital role for the sustainable development for schools, however. The related research outcomes therefore would be important for long-term constructionThis thesis has been focused on researches into evaluation of educational informatization (EEI) for k-12 schools. It is argued that a systematic framework could be a crucial factor influencing the promotion of ICT use in K-12 Schools.The main contents of thesis are included as follows: (1) Based on a comprehensive study of current literatures, some basic issues on EEI (i.e., conception, connotation, characteristics, contents, etc.) are clarified. And the significance of EEI to k-12schools is pointed out, especially.(2) Continuous effort has been directed to make a synthesis of current models, methods and principals of evaluation from different fields. Then a new framework of EEI for k-12 schools is put forward from a sustainable perspective. (3)This thesis finishes with a web-based system (EEIS) based on the above framework, desiged and developed by VS.Net 2005.It could be used as an effective tool for EEI in k-12 schools.
