Teacher-student relationship is the most important and fundamental interpersonal relationship in the instructional and teaching process. Its nature and standard play a key role in the results of instructional and teaching activities and deeply influence students'mental and physical development. With the increasing focus on vocational education in our country for the past few years, secondary vocational education is at a critical moment of reform and development. Whether highly qualified vocational technical talents meeting the need of societal development can be cultivated or not seems to dominate the existence and development of secondary vocational schools. To achieve this, the construction of harmonious teacher-student relationship serves as a prerequisite. Therefore, conducting a deep research on teacher-student relationship appears to be of great necessity in present vocational education. Starting from the historical development and the demand of our times, this thesis attempts to discuss how to construct harmonious teacher-student relationship in secondary vocational schools.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction. In this part, the author briefly states the importance of teacher-student relationship, and the meaning, necessity and method of research.In Chapter Two, the author presents a historical review and a penetration into status pro of teacher-student relationship study. A brief retrospect of the development and research of teacher-student relationship in educational history is included in this chapter, together with three stages of exploration of teacher-student relationship: Stage one, traditional education scholars represented by Herbart unilaterally stress teachers'authority, which sees teachers have a higher authority over students, and students as a vessel to be filled with. Stage two, Progressive educationists represented by Dewey advocate a philosophy that is student centered. They propose students should have a voice in their education, and that voice should be heard. In other words, students are the center of teaching activities guided by teachers. Stage three, modern instructional theorist see teacher as a guide and student as a main body. In the teaching process, teacher as guide and student as a main body are combined together. Obviously, the view of teacher-student relationship keeps pace with social development.Chapter three"Essential contents of teacher-student relationship"centers on the basic connotation of teacher-student relationship, status quo and common models of teacher-student relationship in secondary vocational schools, factors influencing teacher-student relationship and main characteristics of nice teacher-student relationship. Nowadays, China is experiencing a transformation period, some new changes are occurred in teacher-student relationship. On the one hand, the influence of traditional culture is deeply rooted; on the other hand, a democratic relationship and a characteristic of focusing on developing students'personality and creativity can be seen reinforcing.The principal part of this thesis lies in Chapter four, which presents valuable methods for building harmonious teacher-student relationship in secondary vocational schools. For one thing, it states the development of vocational education lays a new demand on teacher-student relationship, and teachers should adapt themselves to meet the reform and development of secondary vocational education. For another thing, the author puts forward some methods for building a harmonious teacher-student relationship in secondary vocational schools.
