This essay explains the relation of education and play from the plight of educational practice and paying attention to children in the educational theory field. It puts forward a view that education is a kind of play from thing-in-itself angle, then builds up the theory system of education's aims , circumstances, process and teacher-student's relation through setting up a concept of "play Instruction".First, this essay investigates comprehensively the concepts of play and play spirit in the many fields of vision of China and Westward. It draws a conclusion that play should consist of specific play and abstract play spirit. Play spirit is liberal, comprehensible, showing, generating and conversational. Second, human is "play human being " because play is natural and spiritual basis on humankind's existence, play is yet children's existing way. Education which is an important part in the children's living should become teacher-student's play. The Writer lists several non-play-spirit phenomena in the education. For example, teaching play, informal play, teacher-student's unfreedom in the education, unequal "I-it" relation, lack of education process opened-up. However, all are due to modern social background, scientific and technological education, the limit of education-play theories. Nowadays, educational practice demands repay the play to children and education. At last, the essay raises education aim of " play human being", "play-field" education circumstances, generating and conversational education process that is "play Instruction", so that it can realize thing-in-itself incorporation of education and play, thus It gets rid of the plight of education.
