Problem is the beginning of thinking, the soul of innovation. One who possesses innovation ability must be provided with problem consciousness.The cultivation of problem consciousness is related to the prosperity and survival of the country,the success of Basic Education Curriculum Reform and students' development. Cultivating higher normal students' problem consciousness is very senseful in realism.Chemistry is a subject based on experiment. Chemistry experiment teaching has unsubstitutable effect on the cultivation of higher normal students' problem consciousness. In order to serving for the Basic Curriculum Reform, the author researched how to cultivate higher normal students' problem consciousness in the chemistry experiment teaching.On the basis of referring to the relevant references, the author analysed the feasibility of cultivating higher normal students' problem consciousness in the chemistry experiment teaching. A lective course was offered for junior students in the College of Chemistry and Environmental Science in Nanjing Normal University as empirical research. This included two parts: class teaching of chemistry experiment and the accomplishment of students'experiment assignments. In the phase of class teaching of chemistry experiment, the author boosted up the students problem-asking ability,thinking ability by feasible teaching strategies and teaching model. In the phase of the accomplishment of students'experiment assignment, the author offered the students opportunities to finding problems,analysing problems and solving problems as many as possible by five steps. The students experienced the whole process actively, and their problem consciousness swelled.The practice proved that the students were satisfied with the teaching content,teaching strategies,teaching model and the experiment activities. The students' problem consciousness swelled in the chemistry experiment teaching, which will be helpful for their future work. We concluded that cultivating higher normal students' problem consciousness in chemistry experiment teaching is feasible, and we also concluded that it is an arduous task, which needs Higher Normal Education Reform, and it also should be permeated in all aspects of students' daily life.
