The reforme of school sports has becoming the important link and breach of elementary education reformation, which accompanied the fresh progress was made in transforming elementary education and the healthy first and the New standard of Physical Education and Healthy Course being put into effect. So, the PE teacher who was the define principal agent of the education reform measures have become the crux of the matter. Their qualtiy not only relate to deepening the elementary education reforms, but also to the bringing up the sports talent. Therefore,It is nessary to investigat the current situation of PE teachers in primary and middle schools.Wu Han City is an education centre in Central China. It is going ahead of the rest that elementary education reforms area, and possessing tremendous development potential. The purpose of the present study is to keep abreast of the latest developments of the PE teachers in primary and middle schools in WuHan adopting the mesthods of investigating the files, questionnaires, interviews and data statistics to make analysis and so on , then put forward some suggestions to the the quality of teachers according to its characteristic.The investigation revealed that there are many advantages and disadvantages: the quantity of the PE teacher can able to satisfy teaching need, but junior middle school and elementary school teachers quantity is relatively insufficient; Men and women teacher population proportion is rational , high school male teacher proportion is bigger, but junior middle school and elementary school women teacher proportion is slanting high; in the age structure, 20—40-year-old teachers proportion is bigger; the education qualification of PE teachers in Junior middle school and elementary school are lower, some real gaps exist between the technical qualification and actual teaching level; most of them are working overtime without overtimepay; the chances of exchanging , studying and paying a visit to a teacher is less , the teachings concept of the PE teachers is far behind the times; their research level is inferior and some of them is haven't grasped the main point of the New standard of Physical Education and Healthy Course.Based on the above result, considering the government organization, school leader and teacher oneself, some countermeasure for improving the PE teachers in primary and middle schools can be commence from the following aspects: changing the educational thoughts and concept,enlare the communication between the PE teachers, improve the personnel management, teachers' self-adjustment and study and so on.
