In order to cultivate the coming citizens'quality urgently needed by the 21-century economic society, China has begun to promote the new curricular reformation since 2001. One of its main points is to advocate the"autonomous, inquiring and cooperative"learning methods. Autonomous learning is the new-type learning method advocated by the new-round curricular reform of ideological and political course in senior high schools, and its basic characteristics are independence, initiative and reflection. Autonomous learning ability is a synthetic capacity shown in the learning activity. In learning process of ideological and political course, students should have the characterized autonomous ability as follows: students have strong desire for seeking knowledge and specific learning purpose; students are able to arrange and manage learning time properly by themselves, be good at learning in an independent and scientific way, delve into learning, self-evaluate learning effects, and find the way out to solve that problems through self-reflection.Based on the prior findings and directed by modern theories, the author adopts the research ways, such as literature, investigation, comparison and so on, and from theory and practice, makes systematic researches into developing students'autonomous learning ability in high-school teaching and learning in ideological and political course. The whole thesis can be divided into four parts:1. Explain the important meanings of fostering students'autonomous learning;2. Define autonomous learning and the ability of autonomous learning; introduce general way of developing autonomous learning capability;3. Emphasize on practically exploring the target and ways of fostering autonomous learning ability, from the features of the ideological and political course, and put forward five teaching strategies:1) Develop students'reflective ability and make students learn how to learn.2) Strengthen the training of thinking ability and make students learn how to think.3) Promote moral introspection and make students learn to be a good person.4) Provide the guidance of learning methods and improve self-teaching ability.5) Create positive atmosphere in class, and fully develop students'activity.4. Through the Analyses of the results of the experiment and the investigation frameworks, drew a conclusion as follows:1) Learners'awareness of learning has strengthened and their learning interest improved.2) Students'ability of using autonomous learning strategies has been improved.3) Students'ability of controlling learning has been strengthened.4) Scores have got improved.Meanwhile it is also noticed the issues, such as the development of relevant curricular resources, the learning disparity between different learners and the required quality of the teachers'and so on, need to be further explored. Besides, the thesis has preliminary explored the index system of the assessment on developing students'autonomous learning ability in the classroom teaching in ideological and political course at high school and laid a good basis for the further research into cultivating students'autonomous learning ability.
