This essay divides the development of history syllabus into four stages, and makes a historical survey on the changes of the goals of moral education in middle school history syllabus since the foundation of PRC. It analyzes the features and historical backgrounds at each stage, gives a whole evaluation to the goals of moral education in the four stages and elaborates the necessity and possibility of developing moral education in middle schools.In the new round of curriculum reformation, our country put forward the idea of"with moral education as the core."This essay analyses this idea, and points out that this idea proposes a higher requirement to the goals of moral education in the middle school history teaching. Based on this, the essay presents the changes of connotation of moral goals in the new history curriculum criterions; furthermore, it analyses the conditions and causes of current moral education in middle school history teaching.The new moral education goals have been formed, and we also have had the implementary conditions. This essay focuses on how to develop moral education in middle school history teaching—changing the concepts of history teaching, and emphasizing the functions of moral education in middle school history teaching; adopting flexible teaching methods, and strengthening the effectuality of moral education in history teaching; promoting the moral education in history teaching through the combination of different subjects; enhancing the training to history teachers to improve their integrative quality; using the experience of western developed countries for reference.
