| The half-structural interview and questionnaire methods were adopted to investigate the social support and its related factors and the process of valid conversion of 54 stayed-down students randomly sampled from three universities in Wuhan City, In this research, the stayed-down college students' social support, personality and their parenting style and their relationship was explored. The data were analyzed by correlation, multiple stepwise-regression and variance analysis with SPSS11.5. The results indicated that, (1) The students obtained social support from their parents, teachers and classmates and friends at different degree. (2) Neuroticism was negatively correlated with social support and subjective support. (2) Extroversion and introversion was positively correlated with the total score of social support, subjective support, objective support and the use of social support very significantly.(3) Fraternal understanding and emotional warmth was positively correlated with the total score of social support and subjective support. Maternal understanding and emotional warmth was positively correlated with the total score of social support, objective support and subjective support.Through the survey we found that the stayed-down college students had some negative effect on the college stayed-down students in mental development and employment. The process of conversion was investigated through document analysis and case method, and the results indicated that both personality and social support from family and classmates and friends could influence the conversion process, and their affiliated new class could exert significant effect on the conversion process. Finally, some suggestions were given to the management of college stayed-down students. |
