Teaching reform is an inevitable process of educational development, as well as an echo of era. Teacher's teaching practice is the key to implement teaching reform. So, studies on teacher can be a breakthrough point of successful teaching reform. There are many researches on teachers; however, the studies on teachers' motives for teaching reform are weak. Therefore, this research discusses teachers' motives for teaching reform from the idea of teacher specialization development aspect, systematically analyses the definition, type, origin of teachers' motives for teaching reform, and also discusses the strategies of how to inspire and maintain their motives in order to offer some enlightenments to study on current teaching theories and teaching reform in primary and middle schools.This dissertation is divided into five parts:The first part is the foreword. In this part, the author discusses the causes and significances of the study on teachers' motives for teaching reform, summarizes relevant researches in China and overseas and gives a brief introduction to this research.In part 2, the author gives a definition of teachers' motives for teaching reform and discusses the relationship between teachers' motives for teaching reform and teachers' specialized development. Teacher motive for teaching reform is a part of the teaching motives. The author holds that teacher motive for teaching reform is the motive power of promoting the change and innovation in students development in teaching process. It comes from the outside pressure in teaching and the teacher's constant pursuit of better teaching quality. Teachers' specialized development can strengthen the motive for teaching reform, which, in return, can facilitate teachers' specialized development.The third part explores the current situations and problems in teachers' motives for teaching reform in primary and middle schools. At present, teachers' motives for teaching reform are in a poor situation, and there are many problems. The author analyses the current situations from two aspects, which are lacking sustained motives for encouragements and the maintenance system of teachers' motives for teaching reform. The outstanding problems are teachers' outdate teaching beliefs, backward management system of schools, inefficient teaching quality, overwhelming pressure in sending more students to better schools, discriminations in teaching and so on. In fourth part, the author proposes some internal strategies of how to stimulate and strengthen teachers' motives for teaching reform. Includes: (1) Teacher quality self-perfection, and (2) catering to the needs of teachers' development.In fifth part , the author proposes some external strategies of how to stimulate and strengthen teachers' motives for teaching reform. Includes: (1) Value quality training, exploration diversification training pattern, (2) promoting educational mechanism and scientific teacher management, (3) improving working conditions and cultural atmosphere, and (4) coordinating interpersonal relationship and arousing their working enthusiasm.
