The Perspective And Construction Of Organizational Culture In Research-Type Universities

"For the modernization of china, we must build several world-class universities". So, some famous specialists and scholars advised that we must pay more attention to the building of the research-type universities. Building of the research-type universities is a strategic point of higher education. Building a research type university is the initial premise which establishes world-class universities in the world, the level of research-type universities will produce profound influence toward national creative system of the university and the development of the knowledge-based economy. In addition to having hardware with an outstanding teaching research and strong material technique foundation, the construction of the research-type university has to have software such as loosenning active academic environment, investigating the science spirit of the truth and so on. But most current scholars are mainly in the hardware to explore a better way to build the research-type university. Based on the previous researches, this dissertation tries to analyze the research-type university from the view of organizational culture, to build the research-type university from hardware and software both. And the aim is constructing a mode of organizational culture in the research-type university, so as to enrich organizational culture theory of university and provide effective guidance to the research-type university's construction.There are five parts in this dissertation. In the first part, the author firstly dissertate the reasons choosing this title, then introduced the review of the university organizational culture and the research-type university, finally analyzed the theories and practices meaning about this research.The second part makes a theoretical analysis about organizational culture of the research-type university. The author defines two basic concepts,"organizational culture"and"the research-type university", and puts forward that the organizational culture of research-type university consists of four parts: material culture, behavior culture, system culture and spirit culture. Then, the author analyzes the characteristic and function of organizational culture of research-type university.The third part analyzes the problems and influential factors in the building of organizational culture. A view of culture construction from practicing activities, the construction of organizational culture in the research-type university is still in its probing phase, and exist some problems. These problems as a result of two aspect factors: Exterior factors, such as Chinese traditional culture, western culture, society economy, political environment, and higher education system. Internal factor, such as organizational culture tradition, organization management level, all member's character, university evaluation and supervision.The fourth part proposes a pattern of organizational culture in the research-type university. Firstly, the author introduces the principle to construct the pattern of organizational culture. Secondly, the author expounds the pattern of organizational culture. They include: first, setting the organizational cultural target. Second, implementing and expanding of the cultural target. Third, evaluating the construction of organizational culture. Forth, innovation of organizational culture. The pattern provides a reference for the practical constructing. Finally, the author analyzes the roles which the principles, students, teachers and workers play in the construction of organizational culture.The fifth part gives some advice to the construction of organizational culture. In the view of the problems of organizational culture's construction, the author gives some advice from the view of the macroscopical measures and microcosmic tactics.
