With the development of technology of electronics and automation, more people have been conscious that robot is going to play a very important role in the future. It can be predicted that the evolution of robot will bring considerable impact to the education method today, just like the development of computer did. Nowadays, in developed countries, robot-based education has already been adopted widely in primary and junior schools. In our country, more attention has been drawn to robot-based education on teenagers during recent years. Tournaments and courses based on robots have been developing quickly. However, the value of such evolution is still in question for most educators.This paper shows an attempt to clarify this issue. The author firstly describes the main theories of robot-based education, and then presents an educational design model of teenagers'robot-based education combining with motion methodology and the project'Tsinghua Science Kids', in which author participated. Through an educational experiment and an investigation, the author summarizes the educational value of the robot-based activities in primary and junior school. Moreover, this paper also describes the actuality of robotic education of teenagers in China, trying to point out some existing problems and possible solutions.
