Due to the widely used internet and the improvement of information technology in universities, 100% of undergraduates have been able to access internet, on which they can study and have fun. As part of"fast food culture", internet-chat has appealed to a large number of undergraduates, who use at least one chat tool regularly. Confronted with the irresistible fervor of surfing on the Internet, all parties including schools, teachers and parents have to react to the major problem by guiding net surfing in the right direction. Internet-chat is in essence a new dynamic interpersonal relationship. After Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences has been carefully studied, I conducted the survey on the possible influence on undergraduates'interpersonal intelligence exerted by communications in a virtual world. On-line questionnaire and individual interviews are employed as means of research in a certain university. Both qualitative and qualitative methods are used in the research. The research is conducted in four aspects including undergraduates'views on internet-chat, influences of Internet-chat on themselves and other people, establishment and maintenance of social relations, and the influence on self motivation and self enhancement. Statistics are used to prove the difference between various grades in this regard, thus revealing the possible influence of Internet-chat on undergraduates'interpersonal-intelligence, and exploring the strategies of arousing their interpersonal intelligence, with an attempt to improve undergraduates'interpersonal-intelligence and promote the socialization of students. The paper consists of four aspects: firstly, the background of the project and Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences are briefly introduced. Secondly, the proportion of internet-chat in overall on-line activities conducted by undergraduates, and the current situation are discussed on the basis of surveys. Thirdly, the possible reasons for the various influences on students from different grades are analyzed according to the questionnaire. Lastly, solutions and suggestions are put forward based on the analyses and conclusions.
