At present we have two editions of textbooks for geometry (People's publishing house ---students'book A and B), and they introduce the two different ways to solve problems--- synthetical method and vector. At my school the students of Arts have been using the edition A. All the time the subject is troubling the students. The writer of the article analyzes and summarizes the conception of maths and the characteristics of students. Through many tests the writer find it is better to solve the problems of geometry by using vector ,which is introduced in the edition B.The methods in the article involve documentary, investigation, questionnaire .The writer expounds the characteristics of the students of Arts as well as the maths and explain how to cultivate the ability of solving the problems of geometry. After some practice and a series of research ,the writer compares the two methods involved ,clarifies the advantages of vector, and puts forward that geometry will develop towards maths finally, so vector is necessary for researchers and learners when studying geometry. By using vector to study geometry ,the students can enrich their thinking and the ability of calculating ,arouse interest of the students of Arts and infirm the confidence of them to learn geometry. Though it ,to some degree, weakens synthetical method, it lays the foundation for the students to develop their logical thinking which is still very helpful for their work in the future.
