The new round of basic education curriculum reforms in our country adds fresh blood to Chinese education cause and is a new challenge to teachers. To succeed in implementing new curriculum has to ask for a group of high qualified teachers who can get accustomed to it. So our teachers are required to keep catch up with the step of reforms and make teachers'profession development come true. Nowadays, the development has become an important trend of international teachers'development. In the current situation of curriculum reforms, there are all kinds of views about how to direct teachers'profession development and improve their profession level. From the aspects of research and diagnosis analysis, the discourse analyzes the condition and problems of biology teachers'profession quality in middle school at the background of new curriculum in our country. the author hope that relative theories of biology teachers'self-profession development condition, periods and factors is deepened and perfected and suggestions and revelation of this issue is brought forward in order to make great effort to improve their self-profession development. the author expect that the paper should offer some valuable suggestions for the basic biology teachers'practice.The discourse can be divided into three parts.The first part is summarization. This part mainly gives a definition of biology teachers'self-profession development and states the history and current situation home and abroad about teachers'profession development. Furthermore, it puts forward the background and meaning of the research and analyzes the relation between new curriculum and biology teachers'profession development. The new curriculum challenges teachers'role understanding and teaching methods and requires them obtain developing profession quality. And, it also means opportunities which can supply this development new room and stimulates the development.The second part is research and investigation. Using the forms of interview and questionnaire, the author gives a survey on the biology teachers in the middle schools of Beihai city of Guangxi province. The investigation includes three aspects: the basic information of biology teacher; the profession quality of biology teacher; the present situation of biology teachers'profession development. The author carries on an analysis bases on the result of the investigation, and point out that there is a big gap between the profession quality structure of the nowadays biology teachers and the demand of new curriculum. That is the backward of the educational idea, the teachers'unreasonable knowledge structure, the teachers'paying more attention to the biology profession knowledge, grasping less knowledge of Pedagogics and Psychology, lacking of modern information technology knowledge, the imperfectment of the teachers'ability structure, lacking of researching ability and the controlling ability of modern educational technology and the exploring teaching and biology experiment teaching skill being badly wanted. The more serious problem is the teachers'lacking of consciousness of self-profession improvement. The investigation reveals the three aspects that confine the self-profession development of biology teachers: the traditional education idea deeply confined the development; the schools'old governing system jugulates the motivity of biology teachers'self-profession development; the single training pattern deprives the main-body status of the biology teachers'self-renewal. These research conclusions provide theoretical foundation for seeking for the strategies of biology teachers'self-profession development.The third part is the suggestion to the research. The author proposes the strategies that can promote biology teachers'self-profession development: First is to arouse the consciousness of the biology teachers'self-profession development, using new ideas to change their studying pattern and teaching mode, to promote their distinct significance and merit during their teaching career. And the second point is: the biology teachers should bring the self-profession development into effect. There are seven concrete strategies to the second point: 1. To build up the profession concept of communicating with the time spirit, view it as the supporting point of profession behavior, and keep a conscious situation to his own profession development, and adjust his acting mode and activity arrangement. 2. According to their own concrete situation, give an envisage to the profession development in every aspect and every period, constitute profession plan that fit for themselves. 3. To take part in the study and training that fit for themselves actively and aimly according to their demand. 4. To form a habit of reflection, always thinking about the daily educational behavior and the process of their profession progress. 5. To build up consciousness and faculty of science research, in order to understand textbooks better and to improve educational practice, enlarge their own profession knowledge, and enhance their quality. 6. Be active in exploring the curriculum and motivate main-body function and active spirit of teachers'profession development in order to promote self-profession development. 7. To keep an open attitude, make use of various resources which is useful to self-profession development and have cooperation with teachers from different areas and different schools so as to make the profession field of vision wider and expand personal profession connotation.
