The arrival of the age of information, deepening reform of school curriculum as well as gradual popularization of modern educational technology reevaluation of the role of the Chinese teacher calls for urgently the reevaluation of the role of the Chinese teacher.This thesis deals with this reevaluation from four aspects, namely, how the situation comes up, what the preconditions are how the reevaluation is conducted and what difference it makes to education.Firstly, the reevaluation of the role of the Chinese is come up with, which section mainly explains the urgency of the situation. Secondly, the intension and connotation of the role of the the Chinese teacher are defined, the formation and disintegration of the traditional role of the Chinese teacher analysed and the preconditons of the reevaluation explained.Thirdly, a new definition of the role of the Chinese teacher, i.e. asA knowledge passer, a guide helper, a designer, a co-worker, a developer, a researcher and a learner, is suggested with a background of the rise of the reform of school curriculum and modern educational technology. In this section, it is also made clear that a Chinese teacher is supposed to study the ideas and concepts of the reformed school curriculum and learn to useModern educational technology at the proper time and to the proper degree to adapt to a new role.Lastly, the thesis explains the difference the reevaluation makes to education, ideas and concepts teachers should be equipped with and possible effects it will bring about.
