As the link of teaching and learning, network curriculum often carriesthree roles of teacher, teaching materials and teaching media in the progress ofnetwork teaching. Although looked from the network teaching essence and the technicalcharacteristic, the primary intention of network teaching is to provide individualizedinstruction support for learner which the study can't be limited by space and time.However, the network curriculum which can really consider learner's individualcharacteristics and based on this point to provide personalized support is still lacking atpresent. In recent years, with the accumulation of network teaching practice and thedevelopment of network curriculum development technology, we have enough reason toconcern and study this issue. No matter from the needs of reality or from the possibilityof technical realization.The individual characteristics involve many factors, such as age, knowledge level,initial capacity, thinking habits, attitude and motivation and so on. This study extractedits basic factor or said the dominant manifestation—Learning style, and based on thispoint to explore the design thought, realization technical means and methods ofindividualized network curriculum.At first, this thesis analyzed the present application situation of network curriculumin our country, and proposed the research task from the needs of individualized networkteaching—"Design and Development of Individualized Network Curriculum".Meanwhile, in view of the current understanding of the connotation and extension ofsome research concepts is not unified, in order to study and expression, this thesis gaveout definition or pointed out basic meaning of them. Then, based on the comparison andanalysis of international learning style theories, we selected Peter Honey & AlanMumford's learning style model which divided the learners into four kinds, activist,reflector, theorist and pragmatist. After that, based on the learning stylemodel, Instructional Design Theory and Learning Theory, we proposed the designscheme which including the design of learning goal, learning content,navigation, database and so on, the core component is the design of individualizedteaching strategy. In the technicai realization aspect, we selected XML as the core technology tosupport individualized service. With the support of ASP.NET development platform, wetook the "Multimedia Technology Application" curriculum as an example, realized thecore module in the design proposal, constructed an on-line test system which based onthe LSQ and a network curriculum which has certain individuality function. We alsogave the detailed design thought and program code.This study is the preliminary exploration of design and development of theindividualized network curriculum by author. So with the research deep-going, we alsodiscover some questions which wait for ponder and following research. So the thesisgave summary and necessary reconsideration in the end.
