A Study On The Interactive Relationship Between University Athletic Competition And The Construction Of Campus Culture

Increases day by day along with the university athletic competitions, it has attracted attention not only from higher institutions, but from all walks of the society. This paper is aiming at a survey of the construction of campus culture, through the investigation of the athletic competitions carried out in those higher institutions in Jiangsu Province. This paper analyzed the problems in the interaction between athletic competition and campus culture, and provided constructive solutions to those problems, which supplied scientific grounds for the healthy interaction between athletic competition and campus culture. The conclusion of this paper shows :(1) With the leaders of universities put more emphasis on athletic competition, the barriers of the development of the athletic competition have been cleared, but the cultural function of athletic competition is not clear. (2) There is interaction between athletic competition and campus culture, but more efforts need to be taken. (3) The athletic facilities in the higher institutions in Jiangsu Province are good, and basically it can meet the demands of the universities, but the management system is not well-developed. The budget of the athletic competitions is limit, which affects the stabilities of athletic competition. (4) Athletic competition in higher institution has not gained enough exposure among media. (5) In the interaction between athletic competition and campus culture, universities haven't merged the campus culture into the competition, so that no outstanding characteristics are shown. (6) There is few theories could be applied to guide the interaction. Basic on the above conclusions, this paper provided some suggestions, and pointed out that universities should pay enough attention to the interaction between athletic competition and campus culture, draft regulations regarding the interaction, and organize more athletic competitions. The universities should put more emphasis on advertising of the athletic competitions, strengthen the management of students'union, and insist on combining the athletic competition with the construction of campus culture. The universities should also take the emphasizing person as its guideline, and make very effort to develop the interaction between athletic competition and campus culture.
