The thesis originates from my teaching experience of fine arts in a high school for years. I learn some teaching methods from seniors of this profession and my colleagues. My students'strong aesthetic awareness is the motivation of my research. The major problem the thesis attempts to resolve is to explore how to cultivate students'aesthetic faculties and how to improve students'aesthetic awareness so as to purify students'souls and elevate students'ideology and morality.Fine arts education in high schools should meet students'aesthetic requirement in various ways. Aesthetic education is one of the major goals of quality education, which is of great significance to developing students'hobbies, improving their aesthetic faculties and refining students'sentiment.Teachers should acquaint students with the development of fine arts in China and foreign countries and cultivate students'attitude of respecting civilization, cherishing excellent national artistic and cultural legacy and being respectful of multiculture.Through analyzing and evaluating artistic works, the teacher should guide students to explore the original intention of the artists to create their artistic works and to comprehend the underlying meaning of them so as to improve students'artistic accomplishment, cultivate their aesthetic concepts, enlighten them, refine their sentiment and improve their physical and mental development. The thesis starts with the current situation of fine arts appreciation course in high schools and elaborates the function of the teacher's emotion, the selection of teaching content in this course, the teaching approaches the teacher may employ and the issues the teacher should pay attention to.
