The primary and middle school teachers, mental health condition and mental health diathesis have been more and more emphasized by the students, parents ,and other communities. Current study mainly focus on the description and analysis of this field , the cross-cultural mental health study is rarely seen publicly for both Mongolian nationality and Han Chinese teachers in primary and middle school . This study has minutely analyzed and discussed the mental health condition and the defense mechanism of the primary and middle school teachers by using the questionnaire survey, combined with the case interview, and also discussed the relationship between the mental health and the defense mechanism, the aim is to provide the theoretical and practical references for the maintenance of the primary and middle school teachers in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.Combined with the interview, this study uses the Symptom Checklist 90 and DSQ to investigate the mental health condition and the defense mechanism of the primary and middle school teachers in our region. The conclusion includes:1,The primary and middle school teachers'mental health is poor . The factor score and the gross mean score are both higher than the national norm, it conveys the primary and middle school teachers'mental health is worse than the normal, it mainly embodies in the factor of obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity and somatization.2,Mongolian nationality teachers have no significant differences but the interpersonal sensitivity with the Han teachers. For the Mongolian teachers , the male teachers are much higher than the female teachers in somatization, while the female teachers are higher than the male one in both interpersonal sensitivity and anxiety, the others have no significantly difference.3,The primary and middle school teachers in the key schools have no significant difference with the teachers in the common schools; for the work category, the teachers in charge of a class are higher than the teachers and other administrators in obsessive-compulsive, the teachers'score are higher than the administrators. For the different title of technical post, the junior teachers are lower than the mid-class teachers, and the mid-class teachers are significantly lower than the senior teachers; In interpersonal sensitivity, the junior and senior teachers are significantly lower than the mid-class teachers.4,Mongolian and Han primary and middle school teachers mostly use the developed or the middle defense mechanism, scarcely use the under developed mechanism; For the defense mechanism and its factors of the male teachers, the scores of passive attack, pseudo-altruism, isolation, and humor are all significantly higher the female teachers, but the female teachers are higher than the male teachers in idealization, avoidness and disaffirm three factors, the others have no obvious difference.5,Mongolian primary and middle school teachers have no obvious difference with the Han Chinese teachers in the use of undeveloped and developed defense mechanisms.6,For the factors of defense mechanism , developed defense mechanism has the obvious negative correlation with SCL-90's gross mean score and each factor, and has obvious positive correlation with the undeveloped defense mechanism, while the middle defense mechanism has the obvious positive correlation with SCL-90's gross mean score and each factor except for the depression .
