The key to the development of higher education lies in the development andmanagement of the human resources in colleges and universities and the teaching body is thekey resources of them. The particularity of university teachers' education background andtheir vocation determine their needs with different characteristics from common people,among which the main characteristic is paying attention to the independence of personalityand freedom. However, the traditional rigid managing pattern of Chinese colleges anduniversities has restricted the creativity and initiative of teachers seriously. While flexiblemanagement on human resources, which emphasizes on making the best of personnel on thebasis of respecting, valuing and understanding people, is really a kind of pattern that suits tomanage high-quality and high IQ staff. Therefore, make a systematic research on theapplication of flexible managing pattern to human resources management towards universityteachers has great significance both in theory and in practice.On the basis of introducing the flexible human resources management theory, the thesisanalyses the necessity and feasibility of implementing the flexible managing pattern in themanagement towards university teachers from three aspects, the characteristics of universityteachers, the management principles of them and current situation of their management inChinese colleges and universities; and then, it abstracts the flexible mind used in Americanuniversities on their human resources management towards teachers and consulting theirsuccessful experience; at last, it discusses the establishment of flexible human resourcesmanagement system towards teachers in Chinese colleges and universities, including settingflexible management conception, establishing flexible organization structure, flexibleevaluation mechanism, flexible promotion mechanism, flexible continuing educationmechanism and flexible flow mechanism.
