The Research On The Growing Of The Only-child And Their Education From Parents

Based on a question survey accepted by the only-child parents in Hanchuan city, Hubei province, in this paper a research is carried out on the growth of the first only-child generation, aiming at finding out the influence on the growth of only-child from the education of parents at home and challenges and problems the only-child group face in their growth.The only-child parents from Hanchuan City are the major respondents in this survey, who are chosen by stratified sampling. They are all the only-child parents of university students and workers (24～30-year-old). The survey is conducted by questionnaire method. The questionnaire consists of 44 questions enquiring mainly about the family backgrounds of the only-child, the personal data of the subjects (including ages, professions, education backgrounds and incomes etc. ), parents' educating behaviors, expectations, their evaluation on children's growth and the children' growth circumstances. In Hanchuan City, 138 questionnaires are put out and all are collected in effect.This paper puts forward an analysis of the features of the one-child groups with regard to the reasons of the only-child group's appearance and the historical backgrounds of their growth: Having good quality, concerning on individual development, taking right seriously; meanwhile being short of sense of responsibility, aiming too high. They are a group with excellence as well as shortcomings.Then the paper carries out a contrast of the only-child's growth with regard to the education concepts of their parents and the family educational inputs. The paper also completed an analysis of the growing process of the only-child, considering the parents satisfaction extent and the return from the adult only- child to their family.Lastly, the paper sums up problems initiated by growth of the only-child: the impact on child from parents education expectation and the issue of provision for the aged parents of the only-child. In the process of the parents' education, the expectation for the child needs to be in accordance with child's characteristics. The parents can not be over-anxious for quick results and they should make friends with the child to touch their feelings. Provision for the aged parents of the only-child is a synthetical problem involving aspects of the society, this paper from 3 aspects (the family pension, social aged pension and self- support) puts forward countermeasures. But in real life these three areas are often complementary to each other. The overall solution is: to respect the elderly, to improve the social aged security system as soon as possible, to develop more elderly industries so that they can continue emitting light and heat.
