Song lyrics, as a representative literary genre, work as important resources in Chinese teaching to develop and enhance middle-school students' aesthetic competence to this day. This thesis expatiates on the role and significance of Song lyrics to promote middle-school students' aesthetic level, edify the students' aesthetic sentiment, and cultivate the students to be sensitive to artistic beauty. This thesis consists of three parts: Part One focuses on the position of Song lyrics teaching in aesthetic educational system in Chinese teaching for middle-school students; Part Two explores the importance of Song lyrics in enhancing middle-school students' aesthetic competence from three different levels: format, style, and emotion. The final part illustrates the specific practical strategies in Song lyrics teaching.
