The integration of the humanities and the science education is the requirement of higher education, as well as the urgent need of the development of the modern science and technology and human progress. Moreover, it's the core of quality-oriented education. The integration is becoming the great tendency which has added both diversity and depth to the reform of higher education in our country.Nowadays, on the basic of resurveying this process, further study of the following three levels is of practical significance for carrying foreword quality-oriented education and for improving the quality of talents of higher education, the three levels are: the relationship of quality-oriented education, science and humanities education; the position and role of science and humanities education in the quality-oriented education; the integration of the science and the humanities education.Reviewing the history, the humanities education and the science education have developed dynamically in a way of their conflicting and integrating, going through from the integration to separation and then come back to integration. Based on reality, there are many deficiencies in the higher education which can not be ignored: the over-specialization and singleness of the courses; the wrong conception of natural integration of the humanities and the science education in the universities. Hence, the students' knowledge scope is limited and students also lack the abilities of innovation and practice.In order to settle these problems, we should establish a new conception of value, talent and quality, a conception of the unity of science spirit and humanities spirit in higher education; push forward the creativeness and development of the educational science; construct the suitable system of subjects, majors and courses to meet the requirements of the integration of the science and the humanities education; establish the modern talent training model; improve the scientific and the humanistic quality of teachers and form high-quality teachering staff; set up an efficient system of management and operation of higher education; create advanced cultural atmosphere. Only in these ways can we efficiently realize the integration of the humanities and the science education, advance quality-oriented education, and perfect the system of the training of creative talents and the system of knowledge innovation.
