Burnout has been a great threat to the physical and mental health of teachers, the teaching quality and the stability of the staff. Based on the literature in the field and the survey on the situation of the burnout to high school teachers in a certain county in Zhejiang Province, my research is aimed at evaluating the situation of the burnout of high school teachers and finding out its factors, supplying theoretical grounds for the management and building of the teaching staff and presenting effective strategies.Findings of a survey to 100 teachers in two high school (85 of them offer valid questionnaires) are as follows.i). The general situation of the burnout of teachers in ordinary high school is not serious, but the problem of energy exhaustion is serious.ii). The developing process of the burnout is as follows. Those who have worked for 6-10 years experience the most burnout. While those in key high schools with working years of 6-10 feel the least sense of loss of professional achievement, the ones in non-key schools feel the most sense of loss. The difference between them is significant. Female teachers' sense of loss is getting less and less during the working years of 6-10, though still at a high level. Male teachers experience a slowly increasing sense of loss during the working years 6-10, a sharply reducing one during 11-15 and a gradually increasing one after 16 years.iii). The burnout has nothing to do with the professional title of teachers. The degree of enthusiasm exhaustion is related to the factor whether the teacher is the one in charge of a class. Female teachers in charge of a class experience energy exhaustion more easily than male ones while male teachers experience energy exhaustion more easily than female ones.Based on the survey and the local educational conditions, my paper brings forward the following strategies. First, pay close attention to the mental health of the staff. Second, attach importance to the education the staff. Thirdly, develop and increase the young teachers' sense of self-efficiency. Lastly, the leadership should provide more support to the staff.
