Teacher professionalization is the trend of the world teacher education development and the orientation of our country's teacher education reform. Modern teacher professionalization movement originated from the United States, while professional development school came out since the mid-1980s in the teacher education reform in the United States, which was a new form of teacher training. The integration of pre-training of teachers, entry-job training and post-training becomes possible because of the emergence of professional development school. This paper analyses the operating mechanism of professional development school deeply. The whole paper was divided into six chapters, which are summarized as follows:Chapter I,"Introduction", mainly reviewed the studies about professional development school at home and abroad: presented the research methods used in this paper; gave the definition of some new words involved. Chapter II,"The history of operating mechanism of professional development school in the United States"analyzed the background of operating mechanism in detail; summarized the period of the operational mechanism; concluded the features of operation mechanism: practicality, research, and participation. Chapter III,"The elements of operating mechanism", introduced the principal operating structure, mode of operation and the implementation of initiatives. Chapter IV,"The power protection of the operating mechanism"instructed the root causes for effective functioning of professional development school from three sides. V,"The evaluation of operating mechanism", concluded the effectiveness and inadequacy of professional development school through the running case of Georgia and Texas. Chapter VI,"Conclusion"from the above five chapters'comprehensive research , it pointed out that China can learn from the United States , but we should know what we need to improve, and proceeded to put forward some good strategic thinking for the professional development schools in China.
