American normal education has developed from normal school, normal college into university's school of education. In the 1950s and 1960s, the universitisation of normal educational has become the main trend of the normal educational development and it stabilized the independent position of normal education in the liberal arts college and the university, (estabilised itself in the academic system of higher education) and initiated teacher specialization and the academic independence of the normal education.In order to provide the theoretical support for normal educational universitisation in our country, this thesis from historical perspective explores theoretical foundation of American normal educational universitisation on a basis of reference and comparision. This thesis is composed of four parts except for preface.The first part introduces the connotation, characteristics and approaches of the universitisation of normal education in the US.The second part studies the theoretical foundations of universitisation:university's public philosophy, the academic tradition of normal educational reform, the thoughts of teacher specialization, the influence of policies in the normal education and normal education thoughts .The third part dicusses the construction of normal education universitisation in China. Firstly, it reviews the thoughts of our normal educational universitisation which is divided into three phases: the thoughts origins after the May Fourth Movement, the thoughts in the middle of the twentith century, the policies from the 1990s. Secondly, it discribes the current models and problems of normal education in our country. Thirdly, it disscusses the theoretical suport of our normal educational universitisation ,such as our country's normal education policies, the open concept of normal education and the need of teacher specialization. Finally, it tries to explores the construction of our country's normal education. It also includes the different kinds of current models of normal education and their advantanges and disadvantanges, which underlies construction of universitisation in our country.The fourth part is epilogue which summarizes the theoretical foundations of American normal education universitisation and the American enlightenments on the construction of normal education universitisation in our country.
