The core Link of the new round courses reformation on fundamental education is classroom teaching. It emphasizes that the traditional teaching form regarding "indoctrinatory" teaching as main content should be changed, and it advocates that teaching means dialogue, and that there is no dialogue, there is no genuine teaching. In such background, classroom discussion is a teaching form giving priority to "student-student dialogue", so classroom discussion receives more and more favor from the front-line teachers, and becomes beautiful scenery in classroom. Of course, the geography subject makes no exception, then what is the actuality of geography classroom discussion nowadays? This dissertation mainly researches on the following several points.First, the research actuality of geography classroom discussion methods is carded, and the theoretical and practical bases of classroom discussion of middle-school geography are demonstrated in theory. Second, through questionnaire to students and interview with geography teachers both focusing on senior-middle-school geography class, the existing problems in geography classroom discussion are discovered, and the causes from teachers are analyzed. Last, based on modern teaching theory and psychology and directed by geography new-course idea, several measures about improvement on geography classroom discussion are brought forward for teachers, and they include elimination of understanding mistakes, mastery of actualization methods of geography classroom discussion, and being good at introspection such three aspects, then it can be expected that teachers find the essence of geography classroom discussion, improve their teaching level, and really cause the vital force and livingness of geography class to coruscate.
