From 1999,the Open and Distance Education project have made a great achievement in our country.However,as the experimental work is still in its initial development stage,there are some inadequacies in many aspects of the Open and Distance Education.The curriculum provision of each subject still has many areas to improve in the Open and Distance Education,such as,Copying the curriculum of traditional campus education,course contents less contact with the actual work, ignoring the central position of students and so on.These inadequacies are bad for the development of the Open and Distance Education.The Open and Distance Education have achieved great success in Uk,the successful experience and practice what they made are good example for our.The purpose of this reseach is,through comparing the similarities and differences between China and Uk,to find some inspiration to improve our curriculum provision.My thesis uses the reseach methods and steps of the comparative education to reseach.The main contents of the reseach follow as,reseaching the basic conditions of the open university and its curriculum provision,then comparing the entry requirements, the education objectives,the learning evaluation,the graduation requirement and the convergence of different education level between China and UK,then taking the computer science and technology,tourism management and civil engineering as samples,doing the comparative reseach on the subject basic conditions,the curriculum structure,the main courses and so on.Finally,according the result of the reseach, mading some recommendations for courses reform in the Open and Distance Education, then designing the reform program for the computer science and technology.
