In modern society ,some people who are richer in material but poorer in spirit, begin to focus on classical Chinese, hoping to get some spiritual nutrition from it. But middle school classical Chinese teaching method aiming for"word for word translation"is no longer fit for the new age. In the background of the new teaching reform, this essay put forward a new classical Chinese teaching method based on modern life .It pursues free translation and emphasized reading and experience of the students. It makes the students focus on real life ,and try their best to get through classical Chinese and overcome the"obstacles". Using the spring of modern life to irrigate classical Chinese gives classical classics real mental intention and makes them mix with modern life to shine with rigor of life, to mould the students, and to make the past serve the present.This essay has three parts. In the first part, the age calls for teaching of Classical Chinese reading based on modern life. It introduces the background, significance and theoretical foundation. Based on the characteristics of modern Classical Chinese reading, the second part states its humanity, principal ship, emotionality, appreciation and formation. In the third part, according to its practice, we should try to build a communicating platform. When it is carried out, we should at first pay attention to chanting. We should understand the whole text and then come to its plot and reality. Try to mix the past with the present. At last, we should examine the classics closely again, discard the dross and select the essence in order to create so as to achieve the final aim of the new teaching reform. We should let the students improve their humanity accomplishment while they are studying.
