Based on the qualitative research methods such as interviews,observations and object gathering,this study tries to have a deep understanding of the following questions:what are the kindergarten leaders' and the new teachers' expectations for the new teachers' professional competency? what's the difference between their expactations ? what's the difference between the new teachers' real and ideal professional competency? The results are as follows:I. Both The kindergarten leaders and the new teachers tend to put forward the requirements for the communicaiton ability in the way of teacher's professional ethics. They hope the new teachers can make good communication with children,parents and colleagues based on the understanding and respect.However,through the practical investigation,this study finds the new teachers often can't set up good relationships between them and children,parents and colleagues .They aren't self-confident and positive because of the lack of communicaiton skills.Also,it's not very good for their work.II. Both The kindergarten leaders and the new teachers take the ability to organize children's lives in the kindergartens as the basic and essential ability. The pracitical investigation reveals the new teachers can organize the links of activities,however,they can't help children develop good habits and cope with emergencies in the kindergartens.III. The kindergarten leaders don't put forward high requirments in the expectaion of the new teachers teaching ability. They just hope the new teachers can master some basic teaching skiils.However,the new teachers expect much for the teaching ability,and hope that they can be certificated by the leaders,colleagues and parents. In the real situations,they can deal with the usual teaching,but lack of the proper feedbacks and pedagogical tact for the children's responses.IV. Both The kindergarten leaders and the new teachers emphasize the attainments of the abilities to learn,introspect and plan career. In the ability of learn and introspect, both the leaders and the new teachers list the details of demands;but in the ability of career planning,they just think about it and take no actions.In addition,this study analyzes the factors which influences the new teachers' professional competency,and discusses the ways to promote the new teachers' professional competency from the perspectives of preschool teachers education, master-prentice mode and teaching efficacy.
