Since the implementation of new curriculum reform in 2001, the traditional teaching has been reformed with regard to the function, structure, content and management of curriculum. While overcoming the disadvantages of traditional teaching, new teaching methods and new editions of history teaching materials have emerged in succession. Beneath the surface phenomenon of class liveliness, some teachers just simply seek for active classroom atmosphere and ignore the essence of class teaching. As a result, the teaching quality deteriorates and the students express that they can hardly make progress or learn new knowledge. This situation results from the inertia of traditional teaching, and it is a ubiquitous problem under the background of new curriculum reform.Taking effective teaching theories as the guidance and based on the background of new curriculum reform, this investigation directly explores the quality of history teaching in senior high schools and pursues effective, beneficial and efficient history teaching. Most of domestic investigations on effective teaching just rest on the stage of citing foreign theories or carrying out investigations by education experts, and the investigations on how to achieve effective history teaching have not gone deep. The author attempts to avoid the general working methods on class preparation, teaching and schoolwork with regard to effective teaching, narrates how to carry out effective history teaching in combination with new history teaching materials under the background of new curriculum reform and closely integrates the effective teaching with the characteristics of history course, so as to improve the history teaching quality in senior high schools.The dissertation is divided into three parts to discuss the investigation process and results.Part 1: The reasons and meaning to carry out investigation on effective history teaching in senior high schools. In this part, it firstly gives a brief retrospect on the development process of effective teaching theories and explains it is still an advanced education concept popular in the world, then investigates and analyzes the present status of low history teaching efficiency under the background of new curriculum reform, elaborates the shortcomings of domestic investigation on effective history teaching in senior high schools, defines the connotation of effective history teaching in senior high schools and illustrates the meaning and promotional value to carry out investigation on effective history teaching in senior high schools.Part 2: Strategies and practice on effective history teaching in senior high schools. In this part, it closely combines the effective teaching theories and the history teaching course in senior high schools, narrates the teaching process from four links (pre-class preparation strategy, class implementation strategy, class assessment strategies and after-class action strategy) and pursues the effectiveness of history teaching. It illustrates the detailed work on effective history teaching in senior high schools through cases.Part 3: Reflection on effective history teaching in senior high schools. In this part, it reflects the investigation on effective history teaching in senior high schools and provides some references for other history teachers in senior high schools.
