The concept of effective teaching derived from the. first half of the 20th century. Thereafter, it has become one of the focuses of teaching researches, and frequently appeared in the educational papers and in the vision of the educators. But effective teaching is a dynamically developing concept, and its study has been changing and expanding in accordance with the development of the times, the value of teaching, the theoretical foundation of teaching, and the concept of teaching. With the implement of the revolution of the new curriculum, the study of effective teaching is now focusing on the study of effective teaching strategies and the learners'study pattern under the new curriculum background. While after studying the history of the research on effective teaching, we have found that ours mainly belongs to the introduction of some overseas educational experience or to the research on some basic teaching strategies, and only a few researches combine the subject with its characteristic. Most of the study theory is lack of practical relevance when it is used in the concrete practice, and we haven't got a practical theory of the teaching strategies which focuses on one subject. So the writer here carries out a research on effective strategies for English teaching in junior high school.This paper contains 4 parts. Part 1 is to raise the problem of the paper, which mainly analyzes the ineffective phenomenon appeared after the revolution of the new curriculum, thereafter puts forward the necessity of the study of the effective teaching strategies in junior high schools..Part 2 is the literature review about the previous study of effective teaching, focusing on the study abroad and at home, and the related theories about the effective teaching:the definition and the connotation of the effective teaching, the criteria of effective teaching, the definition of effective teaching strategies, and the ineffective teaching. The writer puts forward the connotation of effective teaching in this study by using its wide one of which any of the teaching activities that can promote the development of the students, and accomplish the teaching objectives can be called the effective teaching. And therefore establishing the basis of the effective teaching strategies in junior high schools, ie. English teaching objectives, the learners'learning characteristics, the content of English study, and the English teaching resources.Part 3 is the construction and practice of effective teaching strategies in junior high schools. First, this part puts forward the effective teaching strategies based on the basis:the modification strategy based on the double teaching objectives, the strategy of experience and reflection, the strategy of guidance and optimization, the strategy of the paralleling of double characteristics, and the strategy of diversified assessment. Then the paper discusses the concrete method of the effective teaching strategies in all kinds of types of class teaching in the process of presenting the basic knowledge, the process of watching and experiencing, the process of discovering and reflection and the process of practice and application.Part 4 provides the practice of effective teaching strategies. The paper first analyzes the typical cases of class teaching, then establishes the research plan for the practice of effective teaching strategies, next unfolds the results of the experiment, analyzes the experimental results, and finally draws the conclusion of the experiment:the modification strategy based on double teaching objectives, the strategy of experience and reflection, the strategy of guidance and optimization, the strategy of the paralleling of double characteristics, and the strategy of diversified assessment work on the accomplishing teaching objectives and promoting the development of the students, so we can say that these strategies are effective. The last but not least, the paper analyzes the drawbacks of the study, and presents the advice for the future teaching.
