Classical Chinese is the written language used in ancient literature works and documents, and the teaching of classical Chinese is all for the ancient Chinese teaching and the important part of modern Chinese teaching. Besides, the arrangement of the classical Chinese teaching material is closely related to the inheritance of ancient culture, and learning classical Chinese well can help students improve their humanity quality. In the reform of the modern curriculum, we propose a conception about Chinese language quality, and requirements"to read easy classical Chinese with the help of reference books"for middle school students. This paper takes People Education Press'junior Chinese teaching material (2001) as an example, analyses the implementation of Chinese curriculum criteria for full-time schools of compulsory education (experimental manuscript), the arrangement of the teaching material, and the knowledge system of the classical Chinese, studies the cultivation about students'humanity quality, and evaluates the classical Chinese part of the new edition of junior school's Chinese teaching material.This paper consists of four parts: The first part describes the statue of classical Chinese teaching material in modern Chinese language curriculum; The second part analyses the purposes and requirements of classical Chinese teaching, as well as the relation between junior school's classical Chinese teaching material's compiling; The third part analyses the characteristics of the new edition of junior school's classical Chinese teaching material; The fourth part analyses the questionnaire about the use of teaching material, and proposes the perplexity and reflection about carrying out the classical Chinese teaching material according to the investigation results.In foreign countries, being the important part of the curriculum evaluation theory, the teaching material's analysis and evaluation theory has already formed mature evaluation mechanism and promoted the teaching material's development effectively in practice. Nevertheless, our nation's teaching material construction and evaluation mechanism have long been comparatively backward. After the foreign advanced experiences being introduced in the 1990s, we have just constructed the evaluation theory which accords with the characteristics of our teaching material in theory instead of practical evaluation field. Nowadays, our nation's curriculum reform adopts the idea of"administrating the major well while controlling the minor", which aims at the main direction according to the curriculum objective, and allows the free compiling of the teaching material according to the market, for the local schools can choose the suitable teaching materials basing on self-condition. Therefore, there are many editions of teaching material after the curriculum reform. For all the readers to get an overall understanding and testing whether all kinds of teaching material editions meet the requirements of the curriculum criteria, the analysis and evaluation about the teaching material is becoming more and more urgent. Thus, this paper tries to analyze the classical Chinese teaching material and make formative evaluation for reference of educational workers. In addition, the author provides some data and information for teaching material compilers through analyzing the use of teaching material and hopes to promote the construction of the classical Chinese teaching material.
