Training is the primary duty for university, so how to improve the quality of training has become one of directions of the world education reform, as well the eternal theme for higher education in the 21st century. Teaching, one of the basci means to training, has become the lifeline and main task for the development of each university. Under the context of the expansion of higher education, the government and higher institutes in China has been engaging in the construction of Teaching Quality Assessment System. Students'evaluation of teaching, as one of important components of the Quality Assessment System, becomes more and more popular on many campuses, and arouses great interests of researchers of education area. Faculty's and students'attitudes toward students'evaluation of teaching is determined the reliability and validity of it, and its functions that promotes the level and improve the quality of teaching.The papers takes Shanghai Normal University as an example, which selected 1200 students, and 300 full-time teachers as samples to carry out the questionnaire survey. Combining with the survey and the content of interview, the author adapts the statistics software to make an in-depth analysis about the attitudes of teachers'and students'toward students'evaluation of teaching.Chapter 1: The introductory. The author mainly introduces the backgrounds, the key concepts, the meaning on the issue, clarify the significance of the study, and clear the research methods.Chapter 2: The history and status quo of students'evaluation of teaching in higher institutions. The author traces the historiy of students'evaluation of teaching in the west and our country, defines the necessities of the evaluation, and introduces the methods, organization and processes of it. Chapter3: Overall analysis of faculty and students'attitudes toward students'evaluation of teaching. The author analyze faculty and students attitudes to the evaluation from many aspects, such as its purpose, assessment, negative impacts, influencing factors, the application of the results of the evaluation, etc.Chapter4: Comparing between the faculty and students on the evaluation from different backgrounds, such as their status and educational backgrounds, etc.Chapter 5: Conclusion and suggestions to improve the students'evaluating of teaching. The proposes of this chapter lies on giving suggestions to the work of evaluation on the basis of following five aspects, such as raising awareness of the evaluation, perfecting the appraisal system, organizing the aborative process of the evaluation, improving the effectiveness of its feedbacks, as well as handling or using of the assessment results.
