The pre-service teacher education curriculum is a core curriculum in Normal College. It plays a vital role in teachers' professional development. However, at present, theoretical research mainly focuses on curriculum system including general education curriculum, subject professional curriculum and teacher education curriculum. There are few pre-service teacher curriculum in discussing the curriculum design specially. In practice, there are lots of problems in teacher education curriculum in higher normal colleges. Therefore, study on how to design pre-service teacher education curriculum is a realistic and urgent issue.This paper is made up of four chapters .Chapter one is the introduction, which presents the meaning, process, results and follow-up work.Chapter two: the problems of current teacher education curriculum programs and the causes of these problems. According to a survey of 10-higher-normal-colleges' curriculum programs in China, there are four typical problems as follows: teacher education curriculum is neglected in pre-service teacher education, types of teacher education curriculum are unreasonable, teacher education practice curriculum is rare and a lack of organic relations in teacher education curriculum structure. What are the causes of these problems? The author makes attribution analysis from three aspects including the course location, course design and the procedures.Chapter three: the knowledge basis of pre-service teacher education curriculum design. The author discusses the knowledge basis of pre-service teacher education curriculum design in theoretical and practical ways. The major theoretical basis mainly includes the following aspects : teachers' educational theory, teacher knowledge theory and curriculum design; the practical basis mainly involves basic education curriculum reform and teachers' professionalizing movements. These provide the necessary academic support for pre-teacher education curriculum design of teacher education institutions.Chapter four discusses the issue on how to design pre-teacher education courses from concepts, basic principles and processes aspects, which provides specific strategies for the current teacher education curriculum design of teacher educational institutions, especially in Normal Colleges. The concepts of pre-service teacher education curriculum design are including value orientation of professional development, curriculum status of great concern for children's development and curriculum orientation of reinforcing practice. The principle of exhibiting the characteristics of pre-service teacher education, attaching great importance to teacher education practice curriculum, exhibiting the levels of teacher education curriculum, demonstrating the timing of teacher education curriculum and constructing curriculum structure scientifically should also be kept. The design processes of teacher education curriculum, including defining the goal of training, analyzing the base, finding out the problems, setting up a teacher education curriculum program and assessing and revising it.
