| After The PRC established, it confronted with the arduous task to recover and develop the national economy rapidly and build the socialism, and large amount of talented person was badly in need . but at that time,the domestic science and technology level was so backward that the talent person depending upon self's own training was not able to satisfy the need to develop the economy. According to the historic experience, dispatching students to study advanced science and technology abroad becoming the Chinese government's choice. At that time, new China was facing in the politics isolation, economical blockade and military surrounding from imperialist nation headed by USA, and the situation was very difficult.Under this kind of situation, new China carried out "leaning to one side" diplomacy and joined socialism camp headed by Soviet Union. Considering various aspects factor synthetically, the Chinese government made the decision to dispatche students to Soviet Union massively.Started from 1951 to the eve of "the Great Cultural Revolution", China altogether dispatched ten thousands students to Soviet Union.They widely distributed in Soviet Union's high schools, research academies and institutes , factories and troops.They studied conscientiously and earnestly during the period of studying abroad and mastered the Soviet advanced science and technology rapidly. After completing the study in Soviet Union, nearly all of the students came back to motherland.They complied to the country's assignment initiativly and work hard on all fields at different regions of China. They made tremendous contribution for new Chinese economy's restoration and the development, and the industrial system's establishment and so on the science's and technology's progress. In the quite long time, this batch of students became nucleus of the new Chinese science and technology and the economic development, and they were honored as "the driving force that making the PRC's steamer advancing at full speed".After reform and openness, a part of students that ever studied in Soviet Union was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, since they achieved outstanding achievements on science and technology in home and abroad. For instance ,the father of Chinese supercomputer Jin Yilian, famous geologist Wang Pin Xian and famous mathematician Gu Chao etc.They were the outstanding representative of the students that once studied in Soviet Union. The academician of Chinese Academy of Science is the highest academic title on science and technology aspect in China.The academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering is the highest academic title on engineering science technology aspect in China. A great quantity of students were selected as academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering had demonstrated that the activity of new China's dispatching students to Soviet Union to study science and technology achieved great success. Statistics indicated that in the ten thousand students that were dispatched to Soviet Union's, about 100 students were selected as academician of Chinese Academy of Science, about 110 were selected as academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and were holded the great proportion separately. There are many reasons that this batch of students could achieve these achievements. For example, the country's organization and serious care, the Soviet Government's support, the Soviet people's warm help and so on, but of all the reasons,this batch of students' hard working and diligence are the most important factor.New China's dispatching students to Soviet Union obtained huge success, it had important status in Chinese and even in the world abroad study history. Picks up the community that were selected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering to research has important significance to further understand that phase of history, and so on for China's abroad study policy-making in new century.
