Because of the generalization of the New Curriculum, researches on the reform of curriculum and instruction have paid increasing concern about the key issue: How to facilitate learners in their development of thinking ability and the ability of problem-solving. The ability of problem-solving has to be learned through solving problems, so the key point is an effective instructional design. Refer to senior high school Chemistry, a study of chemistry instructional design correlative to problems is needed. The process of instructional design is also a process of problem-solving. During the study, we used more than one method to explore, such as literature search, questionnaire and so on. Based on the different kinds of instructional design theories and the characters of the subject of chemistry, we propose the basic frame of problem-centered instructional design (PCID) of senior high school Chemistry.Concerning the country's education situation and the Age's background, the study defines some concepts based on the theory of Problem-Enhanced Instruction (PEI), the theory of the Ideation Structure of Subject and Problem-Based Learning(PBL), and it also combines the research results of instructional design, problem and instruction, problem and thinking ability recent years. PCID of senior high school Chemistry designs the instruction surrounding a central-problem with its situations and a series of designed questions, in order to cultivate learners' ability of problem-solving and their thinking ability, and finally lead to the full understanding of the curriculum content. The frame of PCID is divided into some parts: front-end analysis, instruction process design, and evaluation. The design of instructional strategy is the main point that can tell the difference among the PCID and other instructional designs. First, we summarized the content and the choice of instructional strategy, and then propose instructional strategy that fits senior high school Chemistry, finally we expatiate on the design process of central-problem and teacher's serial questions. The study provides the concrete cases got in the practice to display and revise the process of design. Via the analysis of the cases, the frame of PCID is evaluated and consummated. The result of the practice also shows that the PCID can be used in the instruction of senior high school chemistry.
