In the first half of 2003, to carry out the sports instruction thought "health first" , the ministry of education of our country published the course standard for every subject of full-day senior high schools. It is a precious reediting opportunity for the sport and health standard which published with other subject standard in phase to come into effect in the high schools of some districts. Although Beijing is not the reforming experience district, option teaching is a feature in the P.E course reformation of high school. As the capital of China, Beijing is playing a role of leading and radiating the other district. Researching the present condition of option teaching could promote the P. E reformation and development, solve the existent problem and further bring forward the pertinent strategy for stepping P.E teaching and upswing working efficiency. It is a precious reference and leading for the healthy education reformation of other high schools.According to the questionnaire research on option teaching, I visited 4 high schools including suburb and urban district schools. On the basis of the directing thought of new courses, the paper probes into the teaching condition, present problem and the resolution. The main conclusions are:Firstly, the teaching aims and guiding ideology of the schools is definite; the basic items of P.E classes meet the demands of students, but there are few needing some improvement. There are few high schools where the P. E. option teaching is held in Beijing because of the influence of the fields and equipments and teachers.Secondly, the option teaching is accepted willingly by most P.E teachers and students. The students and teachers show the affirmative attitudes. The method of the questionnaire is popular among the students. According to the interests, exercises, strengthening constitution, credit hour, the students attend the option teaching.Thirdly, the teachers' evaluation to students take the following forms: body skills and craftsmanship, studying attitudes, affection and team spirits, healthy behavior. The forms ' of evaluation combine the self- evaluation, one another evaluation, teachers' evaluation.Fourthly, the option teaching improves the students' health and promotes the sports skills, develops the sports abilities and habits. Fifthly, the sports fields and equipments basically meet the option teaching demands, but it lacks the fields for many sports items; the teachers teaching level accords with the students' demands, but it is lacking in the teachers number respectively.Finally, there are some problems and deficiency in the process of putting it into practice. For example, the lacking of sports fields and equipments and the respective lack of the teachers; the students themselves and the impersonal condition limit the items setting; the absence of the communication among schools and so on.
