Study On The Infiltration Of Health Education Of Nutrition In Biology Teaching Of Senior High School

The main purpose of nutrition and health education is promoting human health and improving their life quality. The healthiness and nutritional status of teenagers is an important measure of socio-economic development and progress.The height and weight of 396 senior high school students (male 224, female 172) of YingCai School in Chifeng City were investigated to evaluate the students'healthiness and nutritional status, and a questionnaire survey on nutrition and health knowledge, attitude and behavior at the same time was carried out in order to discover problems and improve our teaching methods, and compared the changes of the knowledge, attitude and behavior before and after intervention in the end. The results showed that: 1) Before the nutrition health education, the rate of normal nutrition was 37.12%, the rates of overweight and obesity was 2.78% and 3.79%; the rate of under nutrition was 6.06%. Students get their nutrition health knowledge mainly from TV, networks, newspapers, magazines and their family members, and about 84.8% of them had never had health education before. The majority of students have breakfast everyday, but the breakfast is of poor quality, and almost half of the students are picky eaters. The correct rate of basic knowledge and behavior about health and nutrition was low, reaching 57%, 43% respectively. But most students eagerly want to know the science of eating habits and lifestyle. 2) Basing on biology, the model of"investigating-disturbing-estimating"was taken to study how to promote nutrition health level of high middle school students. According to the existing issues and the characteristics of high school students'understanding, we found that the participative teaching with the peer education in class, and extracurricular activity could get better teaching efficiency. 3) After half-year's nutrition health education, we found that the students'nutrition-health knowledge awareness markedly improved, rising from 57% to 91%, and nutrition and health attitude has changed significantly from 65.73% to 79.18 %, but nutrition and health behavior formation rate (from 43.00% to 54.02%) changed no more than the former two rates.The objects of the study are mostly resident students, and canteen is their main dining establishments. Therefore, the formation of health behavior was confined to some extent. But the great changes in nutrition health knowledge and attitudes suggest that the infiltration through school-related disciplines in health education for secondary school students'nutrition and health knowledge dissemination, nutrition health attitude and behavior changes is possible and feasible. The intervention time was short and a single infiltration of teaching is not enough, help from the school leadership, logistics department etc. are needed in the long term.
