| In the fall of the year 2001, China started a new round curriculum reform of elementary education, which involves changes in many aspects, such as the structure and function of courses, the method of teaching and the evaluation and regulation of curriculum. At the same time, this reform will require a higher standard of the professional quality of the teachers. The new curriculum reform calls for school-based educational research, which is more significant for the new curriculum reform of Biology in high school education. The concept of zetetic study that emphasizes the development of the creative spirit and practice ability of the students is introduced to the new curriculum standard for Biology of high school education. The new concept of curriculum requires the teachers to reevaluate their roles in their teaching and carry out their teaching and research activities with the full utilization of educational resources of their local schools , combination of their teaching practice in class and consideration of the reality of their own schools. School-based educational research means to put the focal point of new curriculum teaching and studying on the local schools in order to form a school-based educational research system according to the new curriculum standard, for its object is to solve the specific problems that faced by the local schools during the new curriculum reform and its principal part for research is the local school teachers and its goal is to promote the sound, initiative and full growth of the students and the professional development of the teachers. The system of school-based educational research will ensure the smooth implementation of the new curriculum standard and promote the effective professional development of the teachers, which will be a support for the establishment of distinguishing-featured local schools and a systematic reform of the current educational research mechanism.In this study, we chose the DF middle school as our object of research. Combined with the methods of individual case study and documents analysis, we make an investigation of the practical situation of the school-based educational research in that school and summarize the main achievement they made during the implementation of the school-based educational research system and sum up and analyze their successful experience in carrying out the school-based educational research so that we put forward practical suggestions on how to launch the school-based educational research efficiently in middle schools and elementary schools. |
