"The three dimension goals" is the abbreviated form of the targets of "knowledge and skill, process and methods, emotion attitude and value" of the curriculum standards presented in the new curriculum reform. It deals with stressing excessively in cultivating knowledge and skill but ignoring process and method, emotion attitude and value of student's achievement in traditional curriculum targets.This thesis, under the direction of the theories of "The three dimension goals", focuses on analysis of every process and content of the storytelling in the English learning of primary students. Besides, some implications are worked out to help analyze the goals, methods, content of English storytelling in this thesis. It is hoped that the analysis and the implications will contribute to better primary English teaching and learning from the storytelling in China.The thesis is composed of six chapters. Chapter one manifests the significance, methods, content and the structure of the thesis. Chapter two includes two parts. The first part presents the background of the theory of "The three dimension goals". The second part mainly introduces the theory of "the educational assessment", reviews the development of the researches concerning the theory. From Chapter three to Chapter five is the main part of the thesis. In Chapter three, the thesis offers different means of applying "The three dimension goals" theory to teaching English listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in primary schools. In Chapter four, the thesis analyzes how to achieve the targets of "process and methods", that means how to master the methods of learning English during the process of studying. In Chapter five, the thesis first gives a brief definition of "emotion", "attitude" and "value". Based on these conceptions, the thesis conveys the relation of emotional factors and English learning ,and offers some methods of storytelling teaching. Chapter six serves as a conclusion. The thesis ends with some suggestions of the storytelling teaching for primary students, as well as the hope that there will be more and more researches in this field to serve the improvement of primary English teaching.
