Along with the "outline of the basic reform in educational curriculum (draft)," and the promulgation of the "national curriculum standards," the implementation of China's basic education reform and development have had a big progress. Inquiry Teaching as a new teaching ideas were introduced to the curriculum reform and immediately bought into public focus in the education circles and the teachers of elementary and secondary school. However, in rural areas, the inquiry teaching has not successfully implemented for various reasons. Therefore, in this paper I give the example of the geography teaching in rural high school for studying inquiry teaching. with my teaching experience in the geography and the questionnaires and interviews to the geography teachers and students in some of the rural secondary schools, I Illustrated the status and the existing problems of geography inquiry teaching in the rural high school .in the process, I use comprehensively the methods of literature research, investigation and comparative study, case studies, lessons learned, experiment ect. According to the actual situation in the rural areas and relevant theory, I discussed its objectives, the basic processes, the design and strategies and other issues.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part, Summarizing the theory and complement situation of the foreign geographical inquisitive teaching, as well as China's development, then pointing out the research ideas and technical route.The second part, explaining the meaning of inquiry teaching and offering the theoretical basis and the general model for the study to lay the foundation for the latter.The third part, from the geographical inquiry teaching of the target, with the actual situation of rural high school, through surveys, the actual interview from the way teachers, students, curriculum resources and teaching environment in four areas of rural high school were the basic situation Explained.The forth part, introduced in the rural high school teaching geography Inquiry implementation of the principles and strategies on the basis of the problem inquisitive learning, inquisitive learning scenarios, case inquisitive learning, inquisitive learning of several rural high school geography Inquiry Teaching and its implementation in the form of a typical Lesson.The fifth part ,studied the case of rural high school and made a conclution .by comparing the experimental class with the common class, it is showed that the inquire teaching makes a big difference on student achievement, geographic interests, attitudes towards learning and the ability to innovate . At the same time, offered the problems of geography inquisitive learning in rural high school, which should be paid more attention.
