Tao Xingzhi had been engaged in many teaching practical activities all his life, and formed a lot of educational theories and educational thoughts, such as civilians' education theory, ideology of universal education, life education theory, ideology on normal education of the countryside ,women's education theory, the national calamity education theory, the wartime education theory,creative education theory and democratic education theory etc, these educational theories and ideas have established Mr. Tao Xingzhi's high position in the history of educating in China,and made him a great "people's educator" of our country, who is highly respected and admired by people for thousands of yeas.This paper picks "the tip of the iceberg"of Tao Xingzhi's abundant works, that is "life education theory" for research.Chapter 1 briefly discusses the educational activities all through Tao Xingzhi's life and makes a macroscopic introduction about his main educational ideologies, which is very necessary to study Tao Xingzhi's life education theory because it's almost throughout all Tao Xingzhi's educational activities.Chapter 2 focuses on the specific contents of Tao Xingzhi's life education theory and discusses it in five parts: Section I discusses the living conditions of the formation of life education theory, which includes three foundations: the theoretical basis, the social basis and the practical basis; Section II discusses the developmental process of life education theory. It is discussed in three periods: the infancy period, the developing time and the maturity period,giving a detailed introduction of the dynamic developmental process of life education theory; Section III emphsizes the ideological connotations of life education theory,that is the three propositions of life education: "Life is education ","Society is school" and "unity of teaching ,learning and doing"; Section IV describes the prominent features of life education theory; Section V provides an exposition of the implementation method: "unity of teaching ,learning and doing". This chapter is the main body of this paper.Chapter 3 bases on the current educational circles and studies the present enlightenment and practical significance of Tao Xingzhi's life education theory: Section I stands on the position of secondary school teachers and analyses the enlightenment of Tao Xingzhi's life education theory on secondary school teachers'teaching attitude and teaching methods, showing the lasting life vigour of life education theory; Section II briefly discusses the significance of life education theory in the contemporary educational reforms and puts forward some tactics and suggestions on the difficult situations of the implementation of life education theory.
