The Study About Construction Of The Characteristics Of Campus Culture In Higher Vocational College

With the popularization of higher education since the end of 20th century, it has expanded on a mass scale in China, which is characterized by the booming of higher vocational education, accounting for half of higher education in china. Higher vocational education provides more opportunities to getting higher education for people and plays a major role in promoting economic and social development. Nevertheless, problems abound in its rapid expansion. In its initial stage of development, the problem of hardware construction was solved by massive funds,but it appears that most of the higher vocational colleges have the sameness. Attaching no importance to the construction of special campus culture is a major cause of the stereotyped development, and the backwardness of culture construction increasingly made its effect felt in the development of colleges. The above-mentioned problems have already attracted the attention of both college administrators and the general public and become unavoidable in the sustainable development of higher vocational education.Higher vocational education aims at cultivating practical and skilled professional personnel featuring a command of theoretical knowledge and strong practicing capability to be employed in basic level working places, manufacturing positions, service and management. The uniqueness of higher vocational colleges in its education aim, school running principle and training pattern determine the characteristics of the campus culture construction. However how can we construct the characteristics of campus culture in higher vocational colleges? At present people do not see eye to eye on this. This paper intends to explore this question.In this paper, we think that the study of campus culture of higher vocational education can be started from four aspects. (1) Higher vocational feature: The pre-determined education and the specific training goal of higher vocational education leads that it is most important to cultivate capacity of students. In this situation, campus culture of higher vocational college should have higher vocational feature. (2) Enterprising feature: Basing on the tenet of higher vocational education, the higher vocational college should pay more attention in the important significance that enterprising culture promotes the growing of students. And it should strengthen the enterprising culture consciousness before the students step in the corporation. (3) Vocational feature: The specialized development is the core and key in the progress of higher vocational college. Therefore, enhancing the construction of campus culture with the professional characteristic will have active effect to whole evolution of higher vocational college. (4) Regional feature: Configuration of higher vocational education is decided by the regional technique frame. Hereby, it is the necessary choice of higher vocational education to actively reply and serve the demand of the regional economy by regional trait. The four features can not cover the whole trait of campus of higher vocational education. The construction of other features will be studied in the future.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is an introduction centering on the reasons underlying the selection of the research and its significance. Related concepts are made clear with a literature review of previous studies in this respect and the approach of this paper included.The second part is a basic understanding of the characteristics of campus culture, in which emphasis has been put on the elements of campus culture in higher vocational colleges and the roles it plays. We then point out the characteristics of campus culture in higher vocational colleges.This paper gives an analysis of campus culture from the angle of material culture, systematic culture, mental culture, and behavioral culture respectively, and draws the conclusion that campus culture in higher vocational colleges has higher vocational, enterprising, vocational and regional features.The third part is an illustration of the status quo of the construction of campus culture in higher vocational colleges and the factors attributing to it.The fourth part is an elaboration of how to construct the characteristics of campus culture in higher vocational colleges, namely from the features they have, higher vocational features, enterprising features, vocational features and regional features.
