New Curriculum Reform of Senior High School has currently being carried on and being developed steadily in China. In the new stage, education requires new ideas and models. Inquisitive learning model, an effective teaching method for training student's scientific knowledge and skills, should be attractive to the educators. The teaching aim of Senior High School New Curriculum Standard of Chemistry is to establish the students' the basic ability in scientific research by means of inquisitive the chemical materials and their changing process. Because the chemistry education in senior high school is one of the important stage of school education, it is significant that to introduce inquisitive learning model to the students to cultivate their creation ability and innovation thought. However, inquisitive learning system has been troduced in China very recently, we are still lack of specific research on practical application and reference model in the chemistry teaching of senior high schools. In this thesis, the various aspects of inquisitive learning in senior high school chemistry education are analyzed and investigated by using multiple methods, including: 1. Survey is used to establish the idea to what extent the teachers and student understand and employ the inquisitive learning in chemistry education. Based on the first-hand information, the existing problems could be analyzed. 2. According to the survey, one of the theoretical knowledge of the inquiry-based learning theory----Constructivist Teaching Theory has been described in details. 3. This essay also contains the principles and the teaching strategies for the application of the inquisitive learning in senior high school chemistry. At the same time the five commonly used models of senior high school chemistry teaching are summed up, based on my own teaching experience. The three commonly used models of senior high school chemistry teaching include: alternately inquiring, partially inquiring, and independently inquiring. 4. The students of Senior Grade One of Nantong First Middle School of Jiangsu Province are chosen to carry on the practical research into inquisitive learning. 5. The conclusion based on the study and mentions the remaining problems of this study is presented. This practical research mainly includes two aspects: First, in the classroom through the explanation of the chemistry concepts and the chemistry principles, inquisitive learning is carried on; second, inquisitive learning is carried on based on the union of the experimental curriculum's and the researching curriculum's study. These two aspects have the reference model of inquisitive learning, the aim of which is to make the students active in learning and establishing the knowledge. To explore whether the inquisitive learning is beneficial to the students for their future development, in this study the efficiency of the inquisitive learning has been evaluated from the following aspects: the examination results on chemistry, the students' learning attitudes for chemistry and the students' researching abilities in chemistry. Through the analysis of the experimental data, it has been demonstrated that the academic performance of the students can be improved by inquisitive learning, the students can have more positive attitudes, and they can improve the ability to explore new knowledge. This approach therefore can be developed and be used by all types of schools at all levels.
